Scholarship Information
The scholarship award, approved by the band’s board of directors, is made to a member of the Mercersburg Area Community Band who has been a consistent member for at least one full summer practice and performance schedule. The award may also go to a member’s close relative, provided the band member has performed consistently.
Statement of Purpose
One purpose of this award is to encourage and further a local student’s growth in musical skills, especially in music education. Award selection is at the discretion of the Mercersburg Area Community Band, and this decision is final.
The recipient must be enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited degree or technical institution in the United States. Applicants may be adults beginning or resuming higher education, but must not yet have earned a Bachelor’s degree. An applicant could receive the award a second year if there are no other applicants that year.
